Habitat Wake Happenings

RALEIGH, N.C. (May 6, 2026)—Habitat for Humanity of Wake County announces that it is now Habitat for Humanity Greater Raleigh with the expansion into Franklin County. This new name reflects a continued commitment to bring people together  to build homes, communities, and hope, as Habitat for Humanity expands its reach outside of Wake and Johnston counties.

Last week, Wolf Plaza transformed into a special kind of Habitat build site. The Habitat for Humanity Campus Chapter at NC State University hosted Shack-A-Thon 2026, bringing dozens of student organizations together to fundraise for Habitat Wake.

Throughout the year, scattered legacy doors have been gathering signatures and messages in honor of former President Jimmy Carter, tributing his decades of service and dedication to Habitat that have inspired generations of affordable housing advocates.

Habitat for Humanity of Wake County is pleased to announce the fiscal year 25-26 officers and committee chairs for its Board of Directors. Please join us in congratulating Evan Stolove (Chair), Whitney von Haam (Vice Chair), Amy Hilfiker (Treasurer), Wortham Boyle (Secretary), Quincy Amekuedi (HR Committee Chair), Ken Hyer (Nominating & Governance Committee Chair), and John Morgan (At-Large Executive Committee member). 

We were honored to be recognized by the NC Home Builders Association on November 13, 2024 with a STARS award for our Home Builders Blitz project! The STARS Awards program honors the achievements of home building industry professionals from across North Carolina.

Habitat for Humanity of Wake County is pleased to announce the election of five new members to our Board of Directors. Please join us in welcoming Matt Birckhead (Sir Water Chevrolet), MaryBurr Edwards (Fonville Morisey Realty), Richard Gephart (Gephart Building Company), Reverend Dr. Jeffrey B. Robinson (Juniper Level Missionary Baptist Church), and David Stewart (Elliot Davis). 

RALEIGH, NC (Jan. 11, 2023) – Publix Super Markets Charities (PSMC) is donating $100,000 to Habitat for Humanity of Wake County’s home preservation program as part of a nation-wide effort to support organizations that provide housing and shelter services, including 125 Habitat for Humanity affiliates. 

As Pride Month draws to a close, we reflect on the incredible initiatives undertaken by organizations around the world to support and uplift LGBTQ+ communities. This year, we worked to highlight Habitat Wake's core values of inclusivity and affordable housing for all.  From volunteer efforts to awareness campaigns, we were honored to support and uplift those from all communities in celebration of Pride.

Yesterday, more than 60 volunteers assembled to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by volunteering with Habitat Wake to help build what Dr. King called the Beloved Community — a vision of an integrated, just society without hunger, homelessness and poverty — the ideal expression of the Christian faith.
