We can’t believe it’s already been a week since we wrapped this year's Home Builders Blitz! From May 28–June 5, ten for-profit home builders alongside Habitat for Humanity Greater Raleigh partnered with subcontractors and other industry leaders to build six affordable Habitat for Humanity homes from frame to finish in just seven days.

The North Carolina General Assembly (NCGA) recently passed HB 1089 – Constitutional Amendment Property Tax Levy Limit. The legislation will put a constitutional amendment on the ballot during the 2026 midterm election that asks voters if the NCGA should limit their local property tax bills.

Abdelhaq works at a local bakery, and like many service-industry employees, he’s watched housing costs rise far faster than wages. The chance to secure an affordable mortgage and a stable future brings deep peace of mind as he and his wife, Malika, look toward the years to come.

Walking beside them every step of the way is their daughter, Bouchra, who has been her parents’ biggest advocate throughout the journey.

RALEIGH, N.C. (May 6, 2026)—Habitat for Humanity of Wake County announces that it is now Habitat for Humanity Greater Raleigh with the expansion into Franklin County. This new name reflects a continued commitment to bring people together  to build homes, communities, and hope, as Habitat for Humanity expands its reach outside of Wake and Johnston counties.

People of faith have been supporting Habitat since our founding more than 40 years ago. We share a prophetic call to serve those in need of safe, equitable affordable housing. We would not have been able to serve the more than 1,000 families with new homes or supported 700 additional families with repairs, without your support! Habitat Homeowner Marwa arrived in the United States at age 13 with her family, stepping into a completely new world. As a refugee with Eritrean and Sudanese roots, her early years in the U.S. were shaped by transition, resilience and her family’s determination to build a stable foundation.

If you attended our February 21st dedication at Old Poole Place, you heard me say that this is a holy time. This spring, I have been reminded that our various religious ancestors understood that we need regular practices of prayer, fasting, charity and loving each other; to be the people, the community, and the world, God intends us to be.
