Our homes

Built to Sustain.

Since 2005, Habitat Greater Raleigh has partnered with Advanced Energy SystemVisionTM to improve indoor air quality and keep family energy bills low. The standard Habitat Greater Raleigh home is 1,200 square feet with three bedrooms and two baths, and this program provides ongoing technical support to make sure our houses are healthy, safe, durable, comfortable and energy-efficient.

Take a look:

Our homes are customizable with a variety floor plans.

Standard Habitat Greater Raleigh home features:

A tight home can reduce energy bills and control for comfort and air pollutants. SystemVision builders block all attic bypasses, seal all top plate connections, and ensure that their building’s shell will be continuous.

To pass rigorous standards, our Habitat homes can’t have any incandescent lights. Only LED lights are placed in our houses.

All SystemVision homes are built with combustion safety in mind. Those with combustion equipment include safety features like direct-vent models and carbon monoxide detectors.

Habitat homes come with a state of the art home security system equipped with motion sensor, and the monitoring services are offered at a reduced rate to homeowner families.

Pressure balancing ensures that the pressures created by delivering air to each room in a SystemVision home are in balance with the others — a key to the success of our comfort guarantees.

All SystemVision homes have performance-verified spot ventilation in the baths and kitchen and a performance-verified whole-house ventilation system.

Made from recycled denim, these materials contain 80% post consumer recycled content. Along with superior sound absorption, they provide energy saving thermal performance.

Duct leakage can be no more than 3% — more than six times tighter than standard NC homes according to a 100-house benchmark analysis. Tight ducts mean less energy waste, fewer comfort issues and better indoor air quality.

So many ways to support Habitat!

members of St. Francis hold baffle painted at Habitat faith night

People of faith have been supporting Habitat since our founding more than 40 years ago. We share a prophetic call to serve those in need of safe, equitable affordable housing. We would not have been able to serve the more than 1,000 families with new homes or supported 700 additional families with repairs, without your support! Unfortunately, the affordable housing crisis remains an urgent need in our community, and so we must be innovative in finding new ways to address the problem. Recently, The Catholic Community of St.

Habitat homeowner Marwa with mother and sister at 2025 Home Builders Blitz

Habitat Homeowner Marwa arrived in the United States at age 13 with her family, stepping into a completely new world. As a refugee with Eritrean and Sudanese roots, her early years in the U.S. were shaped by transition, resilience and her family’s determination to build a stable foundation.

Are we all saying the same thing?

    House Frame

If you attended our February 21st dedication at Old Poole Place, you heard me say that this is a holy time. This spring, I have been reminded that our various religious ancestors understood that we need regular practices of prayer, fasting, charity and loving each other; to be the people, the community, and the world, God intends us to be.
