On July 19, Habitat for Humanity Greater Raleigh hosted a dedication ceremony celebrating six families as they became homeowners in the Flowers Place neighborhood of Knightdale. The event marked the final dedication in the neighborhood, celebrating the completion of all 17 Habitat homes. Over the course of the summer, each family closed on its home, completing the Flowers Place community.
Designed with families in mind, the two-story single-family homes at Flowers Place offer comfortable living spaces while fostering lasting connections among neighbors. That spirit of connection was evident throughout the dedication as homeowners, faith partners, corporate sponsors, volunteers and staff gathered to celebrate the families' journeys and the collective effort that made these homes possible.
The highlight of the celebration came as each homeowner shared a few words about their journey to homeownership and what it means to them.

“I had a goal because I have two children," said Danette. "My goal and promise to them a year ago to make sure they had a roof on their head.”

“I’m from Virginia, and I moved here in 2023. I was living in an apartment, and I had a goal as well. And my goal was to be a homeowner by 2026," said Yolanda. "If anybody needs a door put up, Habitat showed me. I probably could build a house! If anybody needs some help, let me know.”

“I wanted to be set before she started Kindergarten in August of 2027, so here we are. I have rented since she was born, so it is very, very nice to be in a place that is ours that we call home," said Lizzy. "I am excited to have friends that are my neighbors; I’m just excited for our community.”

“I’ve learned that when you’re determined to reach a goal, no obstacle is too big, and no task is too small. There will always be challenges, but they don’t have to stop your progress," said Chaniqua. "If I could leave you with one piece of advice, it would be to stay focused, stay disciplined, and don’t compare your journey to anyone else. Your timing is your timing, and your story is your story.”
