This October, Habitat Greater Raleigh will once again take part in the annual Triangle Parade of Homes. This year’s event will showcase two Habitat Greater Raleigh townhomes, including a two-bedroom unit that will soon become part of the Building Independence program.
Building Independence is designed to help adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) take the next step toward independent living while still having access to support. This includes assistance with daily living skills, maintaining their spaces, and contributing to a shared home environment.
Habitat Greater Raleigh first partnered with Building Independence in 2016, when the first three homes at our Lake Wheeler community were built as part of the project.
Now, Building Independence is currently receiving applications for the new, two-bedroom townhome at Old Poole Place. If you know any adults in the I/DD community in need of supportive housing, please encourage them to apply!
Open House at Old Poole Place
During the Parade weekends, representatives from Building Independence, Habitat Greater Raleigh and Lutheran Services Carolinas will be on site to show visitors the home and answer any questions.
